TITLE: RECREATION OFFICER I (5026)
LOCATION: Statewide-Applications are being accepted for the purpose of maintaining registers of eligibles who would be available for employment as vacancies occur with Merit System agencies. These classifications may be used by agencies in various locations throughout the State. When vacancies occur, the names of eligibles available for employment in the county where the vacancy is located will be certified in grade order for employment consideration.
ANNUAL SALARY: $27,660.00 - $38,700.00

BENEFITS: Missouri State Employee Retirement System (MOSERS) provides retirement, life insurance, survivor and disability benefits; Missouri Consolidated Healthcare Plan (MCHCP) provides medical, vision, dental and Employee Assistance Program benefits (some of these benefits may not be available in all areas of the state); Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan (CitiStreet); Missouri Cafeteria Plan; Missouri Voluntary Life Insurance; 15 days paid annual leave per year for new full-time employees (accrual rates increase with years of service); 15 days paid sick leave per year.

DEFINITION: This is entry-level work in recreation and related activities in a state facility.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Recreation, Physical Education, Leisure Studies, or a closely related field.

OR

Four or more years of work experience, or volunteer experience, in the field of group recreation or physical education which included responsibility for organizing, implementing, scheduling, and/or overseeing recreation activities; and possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university with 15 earned credit hours in Recreation, Physical Education, Leisure Studies, or a closely related area may substitute on a year for year basis for the experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year of experience.)

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Written Examination, 100%. (The knowledge areas included on the written examination are: group recreation, exercise, fitness; rules and regulations of major and minor group sports; public relations, human behavior; job sample - tournament exercise; and leadership of group recreation.)
