LOCATION: Statewide-Applications are being accepted for the purpose of maintaining registers of eligibles who would be available for employment as vacancies occur with Merit System agencies. These classifications may be used by agencies in various locations throughout the State. When vacancies occur, the names of eligibles available for employment in the county where the vacancy is located will be certified in grade order for employment consideration.

EDUCATION ASSISTANT I - DEFINITION: This is entry-level technical work assisting a teacher in a classroom setting and may involve assisting with group or individual instruction under close professional supervision.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: 30 or more earned credit hours from an accredited college or university.

OR

Six or more months of experience in group work with children, adolescents, or adults in a classroom setting, playgrounds, summer camps, or institutions; and possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate.

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 100%.

EDUCATION ASSISTANT II - DEFINITION: This is mid-level technical work assisting a teacher in a classroom setting and involves specific supervised sessions of instruction of students with minimal supervision.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Two or more years of experience as an Education Assistant I with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR

60 or more earned credit hours or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university, including six earned credit hours in Teaching Methods, Educational Psychology, Child or Human Development, or in a closely related field.

OR

Two or more years of technical experience assisting a professional teacher in a classroom setting; and possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate.

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 100%.
