LOCATION: Applications are being accepted for the purpose of maintaining registers of eligibles who would be available for employment as vacancies occur with the Department of Natural Resources. These classifications may be used by the Department of Natural Resources in various locations throughout the State. When vacancies occur, the names of eligibles available for employment in the county where the vacancy is located will be certified in grade order for employment consideration.

SELECTIVE CERTIFICATION: Certification of eligibles from the Environmental Engineer I and Environmental Engineer II registers may be based on specialized experience in the areas of agricultural engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental/sanitary engineering, geological engineering, mechanical engineering, mining/mineral engineering, nuclear engineering and petroleum engineering. Applicants should describe any work experience in these areas completely.
Environmental Engineer I DEFINITION: This is entry-level engineering work in the application of environmental engineering for the protection of the public health, safety and the environment. An employee in this class makes routine field surveys, investigations, and engineering calculations in the application of environmental engineering. Work of this class normally involves training for the full professional level of engineering work in the Department of Natural Resources. The employee works under close technical supervision, and receives work assignments from a designated superior.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, with the curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET).
Applicants who do not possess education from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. program of engineering but who submit one of the following proofs will be accepted.
Proof of acceptance for part one of the examination for registration as a
professional engineer in Missouri.
Proof of Engineer-in-Training certification in Missouri.
Environmental Engineer II DEFINITION: This is responsible professional engineering work involving the application of environmental engineering for the protection of the public health, safety and the environment. An employee in this class is responsible for the performance of professional engineering duties in making field surveys and investigations of water supplies, sewage systems, streams, industrial waste facilities, solid and hazardous waste facilities, air pollution control systems and/or dams and reservoirs. Work includes preparing reports of findings, and making recommendations to improve the public health, safety and the environment. The employee works under general technical supervision and receives work assignments from a designated superior.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: One year as an Environmental Engineer I in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
OR
Two years of professional experience in engineering; and graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in engineering with the curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET). (A Master's degree in engineering may be substituted for the experience.)
Applicants who do not possess a Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program of engineering but who submit one of the following proofs will be accepted:
Proof of acceptance for part one of the examination for registration as a
professional engineer in Missouri.
Proof of Engineer-in-Training certification in Missouri.
Environmental Engineer III DEFINITION: This is advanced professional engineering work, participating in environmental engineering activities for the protection of the public health and the environment. An employee in this class may be assigned as a deputy regional administrator or a unit chief within a regional office or the Central Office of the Division of Environmental Quality. The employee assists in determining program emphasis and scope of activity within the area of assignment. Work may include training and supervising subordinate employees, or may be of a technical nature requiring a high level of engineering responsibility. The employee receives general supervision from a designated superior.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of experience as an Environmental Engineer II in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
OR
Four years of professional experience in engineering; and graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, with the curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET). (A Master's degree in environmental, sanitary or chemical engineering may be substituted for two years of the experience. Other Master's degrees in engineering may be substituted for one year of the experience.)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
