TITLE: CLAIMS SUPERVISOR III (0723) (PROMOTIONAL) ANNUAL SALARY: $35,952.00 - $51,156.00

LOCATION: Greene, Cole and Jackson Counties, Division of Employment Security, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations

CLAIMS SUPERVISOR III DEFINITION: This is advanced supervisory work in the direction of the unemployment insurance function in a large office, or work of comparable responsibility at the Central Office of the Division of Employment Security.  An employee of this class exercises general supervision over the unemployment insurance operations in a large local office.  In the Benefits section of the Central Office, the employee supervises a moderate-to-large technical and clerical staff in the processing of benefit and allowance payments.  Work includes directing and assisting subordinate claims supervisors who oversee the work of technical and clerical staff.  General supervision is received from an administrative superior, who interprets policy and procedures, and evaluates the efficiency of the operation and the attainment of program objectives.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: One year as an Employment Security Manager I, Claims or Employment Service Supervisor II, Contributions Supervisor II, or comparable supervisory experience involving participation in and affording a knowledge of the Employment Service or Unemployment Insurance programs.

OR

Six years of employment in professional, technical, or responsible public contact work, in one or more of the following fields:  business, personnel or public administration, law, vocational counseling, social work, or in the employment security program, of which at least two years must have been in the special experience described below.  (College education with specialization in the social sciences; public, business, or personnel administration; education; or other closely related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the non-specialized experience.)

SPECIAL AREAS OF QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:
1.   Progressively responsible supervisory employment in the state employment service or unemployment insurance programs as an Employment Service Supervisor I, Claims Supervisor I, Contributions Supervisor I or in an equivalent supervisory capacity.
2.   Supervisory experience in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, placement, training, classification, and/or counseling of personnel in public or private employment.  (To be qualifying, the position must be at least  comparable in responsibility to Employment Service Supervisor I, Claims Supervisor I, etc.)
