TITLE: CLAIMS EXAMINER (0719)
LOCATION: Statewide-Applications are being accepted for the purpose of maintaining registers of eligibles who would be available for employment as vacancies occur with the Division of Employment Security agencies. These classifications may be used in various locations throughout the State. When vacancies occur, the names of eligibles available for employment in the county where the vacancy is located will be certified in grade order for employment consideration.
ANNUAL SALARY: $25,128.00 - $34,644.00

DEFINITION: This is entry-level technical work in the administration of the unemployment insurance claims program of the Division of Employment Security.  Work may be distinguished from that of Claims Technician by the greater scope and diversity of duties as well as the latitude for independent judgment allowed an employee at the Claims Technician level.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: One or more years of experience as a Senior Office Support Assistant with the Missouri Division of Employment Security.

OR

Three or more years of clerical or other related experience at or above the level of Office Support Assistant with the Missouri Division of Employment Security.

OR

A minimum of 90 earned credit hours from an accredited college or university.

OR

Three or more years of experience in responsible sales work (not counter sales), public contact work in reception, credit interviewing, or handling complaints, or in bookkeeping or processing insurance claims.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Written Examination, 100%.  (The knowledge areas included on the written examination are:  office procedures and practices; public relations; reading and comprehending job related material; reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy; understanding and following written procedures involving coding; and claim related arithmetic computations.)
