TITLE: GUIDANCE COUNSELOR I (3059) ANNUAL SALARY: $31,176.00 - $44,220.00
  GUIDANCE COUNSELOR II (3061) ANNUAL SALARY: $34,644.00 - $49,104.00

LOCATION: Statewide - Applications are being accepted for the purpose of maintaining registers of eligibles who would be available for employment as vacancies occur with Merit System agencies. These classifications may be used by agencies in various locations throughout the State. When vacancies occur, the names of eligibles available for employment in the county where the vacancy is located will be certified in grade order for employment consideration.

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR I DEFINITION: This is entry-level professional education counseling and guidance work with students in state facilities.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, School Counseling, or School Psychology from an accredited college or university; and,

Possession of, or proof of ability to secure, a certificate in elementary or secondary school counseling or as a school psychological examiner from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 100%.


GUIDANCE COUNSELOR II DEFINITION: This is senior-level professional education counseling and guidance work with students in state facilities.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, School Counseling, or School Psychology from an accredited college or university; and,

Two or more years of professional guidance and counseling experience; and possession of, or proof of ability to secure, a certificate in elementary or secondary school counseling or as a school psychological examiner from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 100%.
