TITLE: CAPITOL POLICE OFFICER (0660)
LOCATION: This position exists with the Department of Public Safety in Cole County. The Department of Public Safety, Missouri Capitol Police operates 3 shifts, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Anticipated vacancies may occur on any shift. Shift assignments may be made for the benefit of the service. The evening shift begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 11:00 p.m.; the night shift begins at 11:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 a.m.; and the day shift begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. State and federal holidays are scheduled within the month that they occur, but not necessarily on the day of official observance.
ANNUAL SALARY: $31,176.00 - $44,220.00

DEFINITION: This is entry-level specialized law enforcement and/or physical security work with the power of arrest within the Missouri Capitol Police.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.   Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening administered by the Missouri Capitol Police prior to appointment.
2.   Ability to pass a medical and visual examination with eyesight corrected to 20/40, plus a psychological evaluation as prescribed by the Missouri Department of Public Safety after a conditional offer of appointment has been made.
3.   Possession of a valid Missouri vehicle operator's license.
4.   Ability to obtain and maintain Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate; and, eligible to be commissioned as a peace officer (must be at least 21 years of age to be commissioned).

OR

Completion of a training program administered by a certified Missouri law enforcement training academy; and, eligible to be commissioned as a peace officer (must be at least 21 years of age to be commissioned).

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 30% and Oral 70%.
