| ANNUAL SALARY: | $27,660.00 - $38,700.00 |

DEFINITION: This is professional work involving the coordination and monitoring of inmate organizations and related activities in an adult correctional facility. An employee in this class is responsible for coordinating and overseeing an institutional activities program which involves inmate participation in programs outside the institution, visitation of volunteer groups to the institution and referral of inmates to appropriate community services or job site as needed. Work includes supervision of inmate community based organizations within the institution such as the Jaycees, Alcoholics Anonymous, and the NAACP. The employee has responsibility for determining services needed by inmates and developing new or revised programs to meet those needs. Work also involves management of the institutional work release program, including liaison with employers, making arrangements for transportation to and from work site, maintaining records of inmates approved and engaged in work release and for notifying appropriate institutional and community personnel of inmates' work schedules and related activities. General supervision is received from an administrative superior.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience in the care and treatment of criminal offenders or comparable military or law enforcement experience; and completion of two years (60 semester hours) of college. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.)
OR
Graduation from an approved college or university with specialization in social or behavioral sciences, education, recreation, public relations or closely related areas.
EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Written Examination, 100%. (The knowledge areas included on the written examination are: public relations and community organization; corrections [behavior and treatment]; financial record keeping; supervision and volunteers; and recreation.)
