TITLE: ASSISTANT VETERANS' HOME ADMINISTRATOR (5302)
LOCATION: Cape Girardeau County, Missouri Veterans Commission, Department of Public Safety (This classification may also be used Statewide by agencies in various locations.)
ANNUAL SALARY: $41,712.00 - $61,620.00

DEFINITION: This is responsible administrative work assisting the Veterans' Home Administrator in a state institution for the care of physically disabled veterans and their dependents. An employee in this class is responsible for assisting the Veteran's Home Administrator in planning and directing the institution by conducting special surveys to evaluate operations and by assuming personal responsibility for assigned areas of non-medical services. Work may include considerable responsibility for budget preparation and implementation, including a continuing analysis of staffing and operational requirements. Work also includes relieving the Administrator of frequent contacts with department heads required in the coordination and evaluation of operations in such areas as accounting, procurement, storekeeping, plant maintenance, housekeeping and general institutional and personnel management. The employee may be required to evaluate procedures, recommend improvements, and act for the administrator in giving technical directions to the implementation of new policies and procedures. General supervision is received from the Administrator who formulates general policy, determines the need for and scope of special work assignments, and reviews work for attainment of objectives. However, the employee is expected to exhibit a high degree of judgment and technical competence within the limits of established policies and rules.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of professional experience in a hospital or nursing home in the areas of health care delivery or administration, fiscal or personnel management, medical social work or closely related areas of which one year must have included responsibility for a specific institutional program area; and graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in public or business administration, health care administration, nursing, social work, social sciences or closely related fields. (Graduate work in the specified educational areas may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.)

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION: Possession of a license as a Nursing Home Administrator as issued by the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators prior to the time of regular appointment.

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 100%.
