| LOCATION: | Statewide-Applications are being accepted for the purpose of maintaining registers of eligibles who would be available for employment as vacancies occur with the Department of Corrections. This classification may be used in various locations throughout the State. When vacancies occur, the names of eligibles available for employment in the county where the vacancy is located will be certified in grade order for employment consideration. |
| ANNUAL SALARY: | $26,784.00 - $37,296.00 |

SPECIAL CERTIFICATION AND APPOINTMENT PROCEDURES: Procedures have been adopted for this class under the State Personnel Law and the Rules of the Personnel Advisory Board, which involve certification of eligible applicants within a broad category or range of examination ratings to include a group of eligibles with broadly comparable qualifications. The Department of Corrections is responsible for selection from among the group of certified eligibles.
DEFINITION: This is entry-level corrections work in the control and treatment of offenders in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Successful completion of an essential functions evaluation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections will be required prior to employment.
2. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.
3. Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
4. Ability to complete and maintain firearms certification training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Two or more years of work experience; and possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate, and a valid vehicle operator's license.
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)
EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Video Examination, 100%.
CRIMINAL RECORD INVESTIGATION: The selection procedures conducted by the Department of Corrections will include the fingerprinting of successful candidates as part of a background investigation. The Department has announced its intention to eliminate from consideration or employment persons convicted of one felony or three Class A misdemeanors.
TRAINING ACADEMY: Successful candidates will be required upon employment to take a course of training at the Training Academy of the Department of Corrections. Failure to successfully complete the Academy curriculum is a reason for termination from the service.
SPECIAL NOTE: All employees of the Department of Corrections will be required to have a Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) test within a week of their employment and yearly thereafter. This is done for tuberculosis testing and the expense of this test is covered by the Department of Corrections.
