ELECTRONIC GAMING DEVICE COORDINATOR

 

DEFINITION

This is advanced professional work coordinating the management of the electronic gaming device, system and associated software verification program in an assigned geographical area of the state for the Missouri Gaming Commission.

An employee in this class is responsible for assisting with planning, developing, organizing and implementing electronic gaming device, system and software verification program procedures.  Work involves establishing operational technical standards and/or directing and coordinating verification activities in an assigned geographical area.  Work also involves coordinating efforts with an independent testing laboratory to obtain approval for gaming devices, hardware, software and components.  Work may involve supervising and training Commission employees in the methods and procedures used to monitor, inspect, test and verify gaming devices and casino operations.  Work is performed under general supervision of an administrative superior; however, the employee is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Coordinates the management of the electronic gaming device verification program which involves planning, developing and implementing policies, procedures and methods.

Participates in the establishment of Commission operational technical standards that ensure the integrity of electronic gaming devices and casinos operating in the state.

Coordinates the inspection, verification, testing and auditing of electronic gaming devices, ancillary equipment, operating systems and financial software programs; conducts on-site inspections.

Coordinates the testing process and evaluation of gaming device hardware, software and components to ensure compliance with stated specifications and Missouri regulations and laws.

Supervises and trains Commission employees in the methods and procedures used to monitor, inspect, test and verify the integrity of gaming devices and casino operations.

Prepares technical reports to supplement incident information reported by patrons and casino operators.

Compiles and updates database with approved electronic gaming device hardware, software and components supplied by the state approved testing laboratory.

Participates in the investigation of alleged violations involving electronic gaming devices.

Attends meetings, training seminars and conferences; apprises Commission personnel of electronic gaming device issues and new technology.

Travels to assigned locations throughout the state to fulfill the requirements of the position.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of Missouri statutes, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to gaming devices.

Considerable knowledge of electronics and computer technology.

Working knowledge of electronic gaming device technology, testing and verification procedures and computer networking.

Working knowledge of gaming operating systems and financial and accounting software programs.

Working knowledge of personnel management policies and procedures.

Ability to meet precise standards, conform to strict tolerances and be detail oriented.

Ability to independently plan, organize and direct assignments.

Ability to identify, isolate and resolve problems.

Ability to understand and apply statistical analysis techniques to electronic gaming operations.

Ability to prepare technical documents and reports.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to travel extensively to complete assigned duties with periods of overnight lodging required.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, casino staff, and the general public.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

(The following entrance requirements are used to admit or reject applicants for merit system examinations, or may be used to evaluate applicants for employment in positions not requiring selection from merit system registers. When applicable, equivalent substitution will be allowed for deficiencies in experience or education.)

One year of experience as an Electronic Gaming Device Specialist with the Missouri Gaming Commission.

OR

Six years of experience in the gaming industry or a casino environment involving electronic gaming device regulations, operations and maintenance.

OR

Four years of experience in computer networking, system integration or software communication; and two years (at least 60 semester hours) of education from an accredited college or university, with twelve (12) or more semester hours in electronics.  (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the stated experience.  Experience in electronics involving the installation or maintenance of electronic circuitry may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the stated education.)

OR

Two years of experience in electronics involving the installation or maintenance of electronic circuitry; and graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major specialization (at least 24 semester hours) in computer science, computer information systems or closely related areas.  (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the stated education for a maximum of two years.  Graduate work in electronics or closely related areas may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the stated experience.)
