Safety: Measuring the Risk

With the assistance of the Risk Management, departments have identified key measurements that should be monitored on a regular basis.  These measurements (incidence rate, total employment, number of injuries and workers’ compensation costs) will allow departments to monitor injuries and illness along with the associated costs.  The key measures are:

• Incidence of reports of injury per 100 employees
• Incidence of injuries with cost per 100 employees
• Incidence of injuries that require time away from work per 100 employees
