Workers with Disabilities: Talent for a Winning Team!

JEFFERSON CITY - “Workers with Disabilities: Talent for a Winning Team!” is the official 2007 theme for the National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which is observed in October nationwide and October 17 has officially been designated to be Disability Mentoring Day.

The US Labor Department’s Office of Disability Employment Policy leads the nation’s activities to increase public awareness of the contributions and skills of American workers with disabilities.  Federal, state, and local government agencies and advocacy organizations piggyback on the same theme to plan events and programs that showcase the abilities of employees and job candidates with disabilities.

There are several Disability Mentoring Day events planned throughout the state of Missouri:

  • October 9       Ability Fair, St. Louis
  • October 17     Disability Mentoring Day, Joplin and Monett
  • October 31     Greater Kansas City Disability Mentoring Day, Kansas City
