Blunt Honors Missouri's State Employees

JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt recognizes all state employees for their dedication to public service during Missouri Public Service Recognition Week, May 7 to May 13.

"It is a true privilege to say thank you to all of Missouri's dedicated state employees and applaud the excellent work they do each and every day," Gov. Blunt said. "I want to thank them for the vital role they play in delivering important services to all Missourians."

A Missouri State Employee Recognition Day ceremony is scheduled on the steps and south lawn of the Missouri State Capitol Building from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, May 11.

The theme for this year's event is, "Inspired by Today; Leading for Tomorrow - Missouri State Employees." At the event state employees will be recognized for their dedication, professionalism, commitment to excellence, innovation, and diligence.

The event will also show appreciation and gratitude to the dynamic and innovative employees who touch the lives of Missouri citizens each day. At the event, state agencies will have displays highlighting the outstanding work and accomplishments of their employees. A special award ceremony will recognize:

  • "Shining Star" state employee contributions at the local, state, national or international level
  • Heroic feats of valor demonstrated by state employees over the past year

"The Chamber of Commerce is so pleased to have been invited once again to partner with the State of Missouri to recognize one of our greatest local assets-our state employees. We are proud to represent the local business community in saying, Thank you. We appreciate your hard work, dedication and service to our community and state," said Randy Allen, president of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce. "We simply ask our members to help us show our community's appreciation and they respond! We have 24 businesses joining us on the Capitol lawn on Friday and 26 businesses that have provided donations and special discounts to state employees in conjunction with this event."

This is the sixth year for the public service recognition event, which honors Missouri's public service employees for their dedication to service and commitment to excellence.
