The Missouri General Assembly enacted legislation in 1974 (Section 105.900, RSMo) creating a deferred compensation program for state employees. The program permits employees to elect, by written agreement, to have part of their compensation placed in a deferred compensation fund and invested for later disbursement.
Under the act, the program is administered by a five-member commission which includes: one member of the House, one member of the Senate, and three members appointed by the governor, with the consent of the Senate, for three-year terms. |
In addition, the commission administers a program for the state contributions, subject to annual appropriation, to qualified participants in the Deferred Compensation Plan. |
